Locke Reynolds Attorney Chairs Defense Trial Counsel of Indiana Seminar
INDIANAPOLIS, May 2007 – Matthew R. King served as chair of the Defense Trial Counsel of Indiana (DTCI) Rookie Seminar. The seminar is designed for attorneys with less than three years experience. Leaders of the defense bar and members of the judiciary present practical advice to these new attorneys. Locke Reynolds attorneys Kevin C. Schiferl and Maggie L. Smith presented to the group. Mr. Schiferl’s topic was “Tips for the First Few Trials” and Ms. Smith discussed “Appellate Practice.”
DTCI is an association of Indiana lawyers who defend clients in civil litigation. Our primary mission is to assist and support our members in the substantive and management aspects of their law practices. We provide a forum for our members to associate and exchange ideas. We advocate for our members and their clients and provide a voice of reason in government, the courts, the legal profession, and the community at large.
Matthew King concentrates his practice in products liability litigation. He has defended manufacturers of automobiles, seat belts, motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles, personal watercraft, commercial machinery, power tools, and heat patches, as well as other products, in cases across the country.
Kevin Schiferl is a trial attorney, concentrating his practice in product liability and tort litigation, defending corporations and individuals in personal injury claims involving automobiles and other consumer products. He is also engaged in the defense of professional liability and business claims.
Maggie Smith serves as senior counsel to Locke Reynolds, practicing primarily in the firm's Appellate Practice Group. She has represented businesses, individuals, and groups in every type of appellate proceeding at every level of the state and federal appellate courts. Ms. Smith also has significant experience representing amicus curiae parties before Indiana's appellate courts.
