In August 2005, 11,000 ballots were sent to Indiana attorneys. Each attorney was asked to vote for the best lawyers they had personally observed in action. Each lawyer was then given a score based on the number of votes they received. An attorney-led research department reviewed the balloting results followed by a blue-ribbon panel review, which consisted of more than 60 areas of practice. Finally, the point totals from the general survey, research process and blue-ribbon panel review were totaled for each attorney. Only 5 percent of Indiana attorneys were named a 2006 Super Lawyer.
