Tort Litigation

Our focus and strength has long been litigation. The firm was formed through the merger of two litigation practices, in 1917, and litigation has been the backbone of the firm ever since. Our litigation practice extends beyond traditional business litigation to include insurance defense, domestic relations and white collar crime. Litigation is such an important part of our heritage that it essentially defines us as a firm and positions us relative to other large law firms in Indiana. This should not suggest that we are quick to push clients or issues into litigation; in fact, the reverse is true. What it should suggest is that attorneys in all practice groups are aware that every issue raised by every client could be subject to dispute, or litigation, and that, if they are, both attorney and client are well-prepared to defend or prosecute clients' claims.

Attorneys in our Tort Litigation Group work closely with attorneys in our other practice groups, including Insurance Services. We also work with large, self-insured clients to provide them with risk management training, including incident avoidance, as well as proper investigation procedures. Finally, we work with our clients to develop the most efficient and cost-effective way to handle the litigation process.

Through attorneys in our Tort Litigation Group, we represent clients before state and federal trial and appellate courts.
