Medical Malpractice

In years past, it was not unusual for a physician to retire from practice without a single malpractice claim ever being filed against him or her; today, it would be extremely unusual, particularly among certain specialists. This is due, in small part, to better information being more widely available on community standards of care, on typical outcomes resulting from that care, and on the performance of individual physicians or other healthcare professionals measured against those standards and outcomes. But, it is also due, in large part, to the simple fact that patients are quicker to file claims - some with merit, but many without - than ever before.

Through our Medical Malpractice Group, we work with family physicians, specialty and sub-specialty physicians, administrators of single and multi-specialty group practices, administrators of hospitals and group homes, nurses, dentists, oral and maxillofacial surgeons, therapists, chiropractors, podiatrists, pharmacists and many other healthcare professionals. We also work with their professional liability insurance carriers. In these working relationships, our role is to defend healthcare providers against medical liability claims.

The attorneys in our Medical Malpractice Group have many years of experience in defending clients against medical liability claims throughout the state. We maintain an up-to-date medical library and state-of-the-art systems for conducting medical literature searches. We have a board-certified emergency room physician on staff, who is also an attorney, to enhance our understanding of our clients' often highly-specialized work.
